Our mandir

A community that built its own place of worship

For more than fifty years the Mandal has kept the faith, language and traditions of Gujarati Hindu families alive in Coventry.

Shree Gujarati Hindu Satsang Mandal was founded in 1973 by families who wanted a place to pray, sing and gather together. Today its home is Shree Krishna Temple on Harnall Lane West, a brick hall crowned by a white shikhar, open to everyone who comes in devotion.

The mandir is cared for by volunteers and trustees from the community, and supported entirely by the offerings of its devotees.

Utsav

The festival year

The mandir follows the Hindu lunar calendar, so the dates move each year.

Janmashtami’s midnight aarti, nine nights of garba at Navratri, the Annakut offering at the Gujarati New Year. These are the evenings the whole community comes home.
